Yu-Shan, the City of Heaven, is an extradimensional space the exact same shape and size as the Blessed Isle, where the gods reside.

Yu-Shan is completely enclosed with towering walls and a dome-like roof. If the Unconquered Sun is currently winning the Games of Divinity, the dome lights heaven as though it's daytime. Otherwise, the dome is dark. If Luna is winning, the moon is visible on the dome, while if one of the Maidens of Destiny is winning, their corresponding celestial body is visible.

A network of quicksilver canals crisscross the entire metropolis such that no location is more than 50 miles from one. Each canal is 90 feet wide: there is a 36 foot wide golden lane in the center, with two 27 foot wide silver lanes on each side. The silver lanes travel at 100 miles per hour, while the gold lane travels at 6,000 miles per hour. Permits to travel in the gold lanes are given only to particularly puissant gods and their retinues.

Gateways

There are 61 gateways which offer access into or out of Yu-Shan; there is no known method to enter or leave the city without using one of them. 13 of the gateways are located in the Central Metropolitan Zone, south of the Jade Pleasure Dome. The remaining 48 are embedded in the walls around the edge of Yu-Shan.

60 of the gateways are identified with numbers, and connect to a fixed, unchanging location within Creation. The final gate is known as the "Calibration Gate". The Calibration Gate appears in a seemingly random location in Creation each dawn. During Calibration, it appears in a new location each time it's used, to allow mortals into the Carnival of Meeting. Divination magics can report the current or future location of the Calibration Gate, and one spell can call the Calibration Gate to the caster's current location.

The gateways are constructed from each of the magical metals, 13 feet tall and 10 feet wide. The gateway leads into a hallway 30 feet wide and 50 feet long, guarded by three celestial lions. On the Yu-Shan side of the hall is an adamantine gate which can be opened by the lions. Alternatively, one could defeat the lions in the hallway and destroy the gate to gain unauthorized entry to Yu-Shan. However, there are another six lions on the other side, who will call for reinforcements as soon as a breach in the gate occurs.

Districts

Yu-Shan is divided into five districts.

Lunargent Ecologial Protectorate

Located in the eastern portion of Yu-Shan.

Quay of Dawn

The Golden Barque of the Heavens is a mile-long vessel which serves as the headquarters for the Division of Journeys. At dawn, it lands for an hour at the Quay of Dawn as the night shift is exchanged for the day shift. The Quay is located on the eastern edge of the district.

Primal Forge

The Primal Forge is Autochthon's forge-palace, located south southwest of the Quay of Dawn. It has been sealed since the beginning of the First Age; although many gods have petitioned for access, all have been rejected.

Auberge

The Auberge is a massive hunting lodge to the west northwest of the Primal Forge. It is hidden within a 100-acre forest known as the Forest of Endless Prey. Any time Luna is not playing the Games of Divinity, she is almost guaranteed to be found here.

Pangaean Bureaucratic District

Located in the southern portion of Yu-Shan.

Bath of Venus

A sprawling spa complex, Venus created the Bath of Venus at the end of the First Age so that others might be able to find a place of peace, health, and happiness. It is located in the eastern portion of the district.

Circus Radiant

The Circus Radiant is a massive coliseum constructed by the Unconquered Sun for entertainment. Every 25 years, the Heaven-and-Earth Invitational is held here, where the 100 greatest martial artists compete for an audience of gods. Other competitions are held here as well, but the Heaven-and-Earth Invitational is the greatest of them. The Circus Radiant is located in the center of the district.

Fulgent Administrative District

Located in the western portion of Yu-Shan.

Quay of Twilight

At twilight, the Golden Barque of the Heavens lands at the Quay of Twilight as the day shift is exchanged for the night shift. The quay is located on the western edge of the district.

Salient of the Unconquered Sun

The Salient of the Unconquered Sun was his command headquarters during the Primordial War before the First Age. It was transported brick by brick from the Blessed Isle to Yu-Shan in commemoration of the War. The Unconquered Sun has not spent much time there since, however. It is located due east of the Quay of Twilight.

Hall of Celestial Stability

The heart of the Bureau of Heaven, where the offices of most of the executives in the bureau are located. The Hall is north northeast of the Salient of the Unconquered Sun.

Five Spheres Residential District

Located in the northern portion of Yu-Shan.

Malachite Archives

The Malachite Archives in the westernmost point of the district hold many records. They are not as extensive as any of the records held by the various Bureaus of the Celestial Bureaucracy, but rather they are the personal library of the Maiden of Secrets. Books that have been lost to all of Creation and Yu-Shan can be found here, with notes from Jupiter scrawled in the margins. It is guarded by a small army, the doors are warded with magic cast by Jupiter herself, and the interior is riddled with traps.

Cloud-Parting Towers

Headquarters for the Bureau of Seasons, located in the center of the district close to the north wall. While they are two miles high, it is illegal to construct any building taller than the Jade Pleasure Dome, and the Cloud-Parting Towers are no exception.

Serene Hall of Divided Contemplation

Headquarters for the Bureau of Nature, located southeast of the Cloud-Parting Towers. The buildings are living wood and are prone to sprouting new buildings, floors, and annexes.

Algedonic Palace

The violet stone walls of the palace were home to incomprehensible servants from before the existence of the gods. While they were used as slaves in heaven once the First Age began, they have largely died off since. The Algedonic Palace, located along the northern wall of Yu-Shan towards the eastern side of the district, is still used as a pleasure house today.

Charnel Yards

Due south of the Algedonic Palace, the Charnel Yards is a graveyard under the supervision of Saturn. Despite the best efforts of her servants, the stench of death hangs heavy over the area. While few denizens of the City of Heaven age or die, many take on mortal servants, who do. As a result, the Charnel Yards are the only place in the City of Heaven where spells from the school of Necromancy are always able to function without fail.

Central Metropolis Zone

Located in the center of Yu-Shan.

Most Perfect Lotus of Heavenly Design

Headquarters for the Bureau of Destiny, located in the southwestern corner of the district. This is also the location of the Loom of Fate, a magical construct maintained by creatures called Pattern Spiders, which records all of reality.

Offices of the Five Directions

Headquarters for the Bureau of Humanity, located dead in the center of Yu-Shan. The headquarters is comprised of one building for each of the terrestrial directions (north, south, east, west, and center), plus a sixth building floating above them on spiderlike legs.

Jade Pleasure Dome

Three miles tall, the Jade Pleasure Dome is the tallest building in all of Yu-Shan, and constructing anything taller is, in fact, illegal. The Celestial Incarnae play the Games of Divinity here, and their relative position within the Games determines the day/night cycle in Heaven. It is illegal for any other being to play even one turn of the Games, or to even watch the Incarnae play... unless one of the Incarnae invites them to do so. To watch a portion of the Games is an incredible honor, and to be invited to take a turn is a boon that none could possibly exceed.
