Memories takes place on the world of Kavizore, but this story doesn't cover that wide world. The players are inhabitants of The City, capital of The Union.

The Union was formed by Dragons when they explored Kavizore and discovered other civilized races. It serves as a means of keeping the peace in the world, with every member race having representation in The Senate. Not all representation is equal, of course; those races who bring greater value to the Union have greater power within the Senate, and who brings greater value than the Dragons who formed it?

The City ostensibly serves as a neutral ground. Every race in the Union has citizens living in the City, and all work together to keep the City prosperous. You, the player, live in the City as well, regardless of your background.

Of course, neutrality only gets you so far. While the upper levels of the City are a paradise unparalleled on Kavizore, the lower levels are often rife with crime and violence. Enter The Watch, who patrol the city and do what they can to keep crime in check. The Watch is almost entirely populated by Warforged (and all Warforged serve in the Watch in some capacity), with two exceptions: the mysterious Shade, and you.

The Shade was found by members of the Watch a year ago, and after discovering his valuable abilities, they put him to work. After a year of being on the front lines of the war against the criminal element of the City, the Shade was able to convince his superiors to let him try an experiment. He would build a new squad of Watchmembers, with the Shade as their commanding officer. But instead of gathering a group of Warforged and doing the same thing the Watch has always done, the Shade would gather a group of the downtrodden. People who lived in the lower levels of the city, whose families lived there, who were in constant danger of becoming collateral damage from the gangs that ruled the streets. A team of people who want to take back their City. A group who would demonstrate that the bottom rung of society has options other than suffering as a victim or joining the victimizers.

Character creation

RACE: Player characters are restricted in what race they can select. See Species of Kavizore for a list of species in the setting, which will also note which races are available to PCs.

ALIGNMENT: While alignment is not restricted, evil characters should be prepared to justify why they want to join this experimental squad of the Watch.

LEVEL: At the beginning of this campaign, player characters will be level 3. If any PCs end up dying, or if a player leaves the campaign and another player joins to replace them, the new character will be the same level as the rest of the party.

SOURCE BOOKS: All core D&D books are available without question (barring elements that have been otherwise restricted). Content from other sources may be available on a case-by-case basis with GM approval; ask first.
