Ryder is, you're likely to eventually learn, the name of the country in which Forerunner has established Landfall base.

At the moment, you know very little about the area beyond the aerial surveillance Forerunner has conducted. This article will be updated as more information becomes available!

Physical characteristics

The world Ryder is located on is designated KOI-087.01 by Forerunner. Presumably the locals have their own name for it, and you're welcome to give it your own name. In fact, Forerunner encourages doing so. This will be your home for presumably the rest of your lives, and giving things names helps form an attachment to them.

Most characteristics of KOI-087.01 are within a few percentage points of Earth: similar mix of nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, similar temperature gradient from pole to pole, gravity slightly higher but not by much, etc. In theory, it should be perfect for human life, but as you discovered when you were decanted from your biofabricator, something about this environment is hostile to human bodies. Which is why you're now a bird.
